With 24 years in logistics, I began in a family business before transitioning to roles in major companies like Asda Logistics and Norbert Dentressangle (now XPO Logistics). From managing operations to regional sales, I’ve handled diverse responsibilities. COVID prompted me to co-found Sovereign with a colleague, driven by a shared vision. My work ethic stems from my father’s example, emphasising hard work, trust, and reliability.
With over two decades immersed in the logistics industry, my journey began at the age of 19 within a family-owned transport and warehousing enterprise. Over the course of 12 years, divided into two separate stints, I progressed to the role of Managing Director for two subsidiaries within the group, honing my leadership skills and operational acumen.
Transitioning from this, I joined Asda Logistics stationed at the Ambient Distribution Centre in Washington. During my time here, I performed in roles ranging from shift manager to operations manager within the transport department. During this time the allure of the core transport sector led me to embrace a new opportunity with Norbert Dentressangle, subsequently acquired by the American logistics behemoth, XPO Logistics.
Initially serving as Site Manager for operations in Middleton St George, I assumed additional responsibility for a customer implant operation based in Birtley. Witnessing the transformation of Norbert Dentressangle into XPO Logistics, I navigated a brief stint overseeing a third operation in South Yorkshire, overseeing a substantial budget of £36 million.
After four years in operational management, I transitioned to the role of Regional Sales Manager covering Scotland, North East, and North West regions, with a mandate to identify strategic opportunities nationwide.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic marked a seismic shift in the industry landscape. A chance encounter during some routine outdoor exercise, precipitated the inception of Sovereign, a venture borne of shared vision.
Opting for redundancy from XPO Logistics, I embarked on this new chapter on July 31st, 2020, with Sovereign’s first day of trading signalling the start of a transformative journey on August 1st 2020!
Bringing nearly two decades of warehousing and logistics expertise, starting from my early days as a forklift driver, I have performed various roles within the industry drawing from experiences in both large corporations and small family-run businesses. My commitment to continuous learning and innovative problem-solving, coupled with a meticulous approach to work, propelled me to co-found Sovereign Supply Chain Services in August 2020.
As co-founder of Sovereign Supply Chain Services LTD, I have amassed nearly two decades of experience in warehousing and logistics, beginning as a forklift driver in February 2005 at Northern Power Grid. Through dedication and hard work, I climbed through the ranks to become a warehouse supervisor, a role I held until November 2012.
Transitioning to Asda in 2012, I served as Warehouse Department Manager, overseeing a team of pickers, loaders, and goods inward staff. My responsibilities included managing operations and personnel, demonstrating leadership skills and operational acumen.
In 2014, I honed managerial abilities further as Warehouse and Logistics Manager at Normans Business Solutions. As a key member of the senior management team, I reported directly to the business owner, assuming responsibility for all operational aspects of the company’s warehouse and logistics operations.
In August 2018, I assumed the role of General Manager at a family owned and managed business, where I played a pivotal role in the senior management team. My journey continued as Depot Manager at The Pallet Network.
Drawing upon my diverse experiences across various roles and companies, I co-founded Sovereign Supply Chain Services alongside Kris, with a commitment to excellence, integrity, and customer satisfaction.
Our aim is to leverage our knowledge and extensive background in logistics to establish the company as a trusted partner in warehousing and distribution, prioritising innovation and client-centric solutions.
Outside of work, I treasure spending time with my family, albeit often juggling the demands of my three daughters and wife alongside my love for football.
